The infrastructure of WHS, developed over 9 decades, cannot be equalled in Namibia. Windhoek High School boasts spacious classrooms conducive to teaching, a school hall that can seat 800 people, a state-of-the-art computer centre, 3 science laboratories, a modern media centre, an art education classroom, a fully-equipped home economics classroom, a word-processing centre and a cafeteria. In its picturesque setting, the sports stadium, Vegkop, is the envy of many. Ten thousand people hardly fill this sought-after venue when mega-events are presented there. The stadium brings happy memories for generations of students who played rugby here or competed in the traditional interhouse athletics competition. Vegkop also houses the modern WHS cricket-training facility. Supplementing the stadium is a multi-million dollar investment in sporting facilities, which include 2 additional rugby fields, 4 tennis courts, a soccer field, 2 hockey fields, 4 netball courts, a 300 square meter gymnasium and basketball and volleyball courts. The latest addition is a heated, indoor swimming pool. The recently upgraded grass hockey field, complete with a spectator pavillion, is considered to be the best in Namibia. Sport teams travel to local and regional sporting events in neighbouring countries on a regular basis. For the annual sports tour, the 2 WHS 60-seater coaches and 2 20-seater luxury mini-buses take on the long road to South Africa. Years of dedication and investment have created an enabling environment for the outstanding sport successes for which WHS has deservedly become known.
